Gamboa Rainforest Resort
Hotel Class: Deluxe
This deluxe rainforest resort is nestled amongst the dense jungle of the rainforest outside Panama City and directly alongside the scenic Chagres River and Gatun Lake. The resort prides itself on its collaboration with the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, and as such offers a variety of displays, tours, and programs designed to educate visitors on the beauty and significance of the flora and fauna which surround the resort. Aquariums, gardens, butterfly nurseries, reptile habitats, aerial tram rides, bird watching hikes, and trips to the SRTI Island are just some of the exciting amenities offered guests at the resort. When relaxation is sought, a spa, kayaks, pedal boats, and swimming pool are all available, as well as 6 restaurants/bars for guests to enjoy a variety of cuisine. Upon returning to any of the resort’s accommodations, guests will find a mini-bar, safety deposit box, satellite TV, crystal shower, hair dryer, vanity mirror, monogrammed robe, coffee/tea maker, and balcony overlooking either the river or the jungle.

Intercontinental Miramar Hotel

Adjacent to Panama Bay and the ocean, the InterContinental Miramar is located in the banking and financial district of Panama City. The 185 air-conditioned guestrooms feature satellite television, dataport, and telephone. Leisure facilities include outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, health club, gymnasium, massage, sauna, jacuzzi and Turkish bath. In addition to a cocktail lounge, this property also boasts two restaurants onsite: the Bayview, offering international cuisine, and the Miramar, featuring seafood specialties.

Located on Kobbe Beach, the InterContinental Playa Bonita Resort and Spa is convenient to both the Panama Canal and the Punta Bruja Nature Reserve, as well as the 18-Hole Tucan Club championship golf course. This property’s 302 air-conditioned guestrooms feature modern conveniences including cable television, high-speed internet access, and telephones. Hotel amenities include beach access, outdoor swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, spa, and fitness center, as well as two bars and three restaurants. Day 1 - Welcome to Panama City
Check in to the InterContinental Miramar.

Day 2 - Old and new in Panama City
Marvel at the Miraflores Locks and watch ships transiting the Panama Canal as your guide shares history and insight. Cross the bay into Casco Antiguo#WHS#, filled with cobblestone streets and 18th-century colonial architecture. Meals B

Day 3 - Through the Panama Canal!
An unforgettable day unfolds as you journey from the Pacific to the Atlantic on a full Canal transit. Enter into the Miraflores Locks and through the Gaillard Cut to cross Gatun Lake. Upon arrival in Cristobal, it’s a scenic drive to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. Meals B,L

Day 4 - Gamboa Rainforest Resort
You have a full day at leisure to enjoy the fabulous amenities of your tropical resort. Relax poolside or join some of the available activities, like birdwatching, naturalist-guided wildlife tours and fishing on Gatun Lake. Meals B

Day 5 - By rail from Portobelo to the Pacific
Explore the Caribbean town of Portobelo#WHS#, rich with history and impressive ruins of Colonial-era fortifications. Visit the 17th century Custom House and see the amazing Christo Negro statue, which appeared mysteriously in Portobelo in the mid 1600s. Enjoy a seafood lunch and a lively performance of Afro-Caribbean dance by Congos, descendants of former slaves brought by Spanish Conquistadors. Then transfer to Colon Station for a transcontinental trip on the historic Panama Railroad, originally built in 1855. This journey follows alongside the Canal through the tropical rainforest with superb views of the Canal and ship traffic. Upon arrival at Corozal Station, it’s a pleasant drive to the InterContinental Playa Bonita Resort and Spa. Meals B,L

Day 6 - Unwind at Playa Bonita
Enjoy the pools and sports activities of your resort. Take a nature walk in the adjacent Punta Bruja Nature Reserve, or join an available excursion – like golf, deep sea fishing or bird watching. Meals B

Day 7 - Another day in paradise...
Enjoy another day at leisure before this evening’s farewell dinner at your resort. Meals B,D
