Day 2 - Explore Bucharest
City sightseeing includes the Palace of Parliament, Patriarchy Cathedral, Village Museum and the stately architecture of Revolution Square. Meals B
Day 3 - Across Transylvania to Sibiel
Visit the exceptional Curtea de Arges Monastery and journey into the Olt River Valley to the 14th century Cozia Monastery. In Sibiel, a horse-drawn carriage brings you to a country inn to break bread with a village family. Meals B,D
Day 4 - World Heritage Sites and the town where Dracula was born
Tour Sibiu, once the richest town in Transylvania. Then see the Saxon fortified church #WHS# in Biertan and continue to Sighisoara #WHS#, the best-preserved fortified town in Romania. Arrive in Brasov for dinner at Casa Hirscher. Meals B,D
Day 5 - Out and about in Transylvania
Tour the fairytale town of Brasov, founded in the 12th century and home to the historic Black Church. Then at the country’s first school, get to know the fascinating life of Professor Olteanu Vasile in a private meeting arranged specially for our Small Group. In the afternoon, visit the infamous Bran Castle. Meals B
Day 6 - From Brasov into Bulgaria
Visit Peles Castle, former summer residence of Romanian royalty. Cross the Danube and visit the incredible rock-hewn churches of Ivanovo #WHS#. Travel to Veliko Tarnovo and check in to the Grand Yantra Hotel. Meals B,D
Day 7 - Explore Veliko Tarnovo
Explore the medieval quarter of Bulgaria’s ancient capital and historic Tsarevets Hill. In picturesque Arbanassi, visit Konstankalieva House and the Church of the Nativity, richly decorated with 17th-century frescoes. Meals B
Day 8 - Through the Shipka Pass to Plovdiv
Visit the open-air museum in Etara. Then cross the Balkan Mountains through the scenic Shipka Pass to Kazanlak to visit the ancient Thracian Tomb #WHS#, famed for its Hellenistic frescoes. Continue through the Valley of Roses to Plovdiv and check in to the Novotel. Meals B,D
Day 9 - The Rila Monastery and onward to Sofia
Tour the Old Town of Plovdiv, then depart for Rila and admire the distinctive Ottoman styling of the 10th-century Rila Monastery #WHS#. Continue to Sofia and check in to your deluxe hotel, the Radisson Blu Grand Sofia. Meals B
