Day 1 - Welcome to Iguassu Falls, Brazil
Check in to the deluxe Orient-Express Hotel Das Cataratas. As the only guests within Brazil’s Iguassu National Park, you enjoy exclusive access to the nearby falls in the evening and at dawn when the park is closed to other visitors!

Day 2 - Discover Iguassu Falls #WHS#
Spend a full day with our in-the-know guide and explore these 275 magnificent cascades, spanning nearly two miles in the lush subtropical jungle. You’ll visit all the best vantage points on both the Brazilian and Argentine sides, including the famous Devil’s Throat Cataract. Meals B

Day 3 - From Iguassu to Manaus
Early this morning you’ll be transferred to the airport for your included flight to Manaus. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and escorted to the Tropical Hotel. The balance of your evening is free to enjoy as you wish. Meals B

Day 4 - Step Aboard the M/Y Tucano
After breakfast, you’ll be escorted to the pier to board the intimate M/Y Tucano, an elegant river vessel with 9 air-conditioned outside staterooms - all with large windows and private en suite bath. After settling in to your cabin, join fellow guests on the spacious Observation Deck to observe the passing scenery as the Tucano begins her voyage along the Rio Negro and through the 400 islands of Anavilhanas, the world’s largest freshwater archipelago. Later, board the ship’s launches to scout close to shore along the heavily forested river banks.

Enjoy lunch in the inviting wood-paneled Salon as your ship continues beyond frontier settlements and into the true wilderness area of the Amazon. This section of the river is an excellent place to spot pink river dolphins and a large variety of exotic bird species. In the late afternoon, join your naturalist guides for a river safari to observe more jungle wildlife. Every evening, your ship’s naturalists will offer informative talks about the myriad plants, animals and eco-systems encountered on your river voyage and forest walks. Meals B,L,D

Day 5 - Exploring the Rainforest
The Tucano is equipped with launches that allow for deeper exploration into the dense foliage of the Amazon jungle. This morning’s excursion explores the unique eco-system at river’s edge; the early hour is a good time to spot Howler monkeys and hear the morning call of the famous long-beaked bird of the tropics, the iconic Toucan. After breakfast onboard, return to shore for a guided forest walk as your naturalist guide broadens your understanding of rainforest ecology.

Enjoy lunch and a relaxing afternoon onboard as your ship continues its river voyage. A late-day excursion into the forest is accompanied by the sunset chorus of birds and frogs. Meals B,L,D

Day 6 - Deep into the Amazon
Join our expert naturalists early this morning to explore the tall dense rainforests of the Anavilhanas Archipelago. Here you’ll find the Igapó, an unusual flooded eco-system of dense forests rising directly from the dark waters of the Rio Negro. Later, a hike through a high Amazon forest reveals a very different environment, home to its own unique flora and fauna. As weather and water-level conditions permit, you will enjoy additional late afternoon and evening excursions, a great time to spot sloths scrambling high in the limbs of the jungle. Meals B,L,D

Day 7 - Into the Varzea
Depending upon river conditions, this morning’s excursions might include a visit to a remote settler’s home carved out of the forest. In the early afternoon, the Tucano navigates close to the Rio Jaueperi. Known as the Varzea (a Portuguese word meaning “flooded forest”), the water levels here can fluctuate by as much as 20 to 40 feet over the course of a year. This constant flooding-and-receding has created a unique and ever-changing environment. Your excursions along these shorelines explore extraordinary flora and fauna not found anywhere else. Weather permitting, a night safari with your naturalists guides is a chance to observe rare nocturnal creatures. Meals B,L,D

Day 8 - Downstream on the Rio Negro
Another day in the Amazon unfolds as you explore new rainforest habitats along the Rio Negro. Join your guides on forest walks and launch excursions at water’s edge. Continue your search for nocturnal species on another nighttime forest walk. Meals B,L,D

Day 9 - The Boat-Building Village of Novo Airão
Sail along the western bank of the Rio Negro and step ashore to visit Novo Airão, a remote village where skilled craftsmen continue boat-making traditions that stretch back more than a century. This evening as your ship continues downriver toward the mighty Amazon, you can try a bit of Samba on the Top Deck under starry skies or sip a Caipirinha, Brazil’s celebrated cocktail. Meals B,L,D

Day 10 - Cruising through Lago Janauari Ecological Park
This morning finds you exploring along the swift Amazon currents that flow through the pristine Lago Janauari Ecological Park, renowned for its diversity of wildlife. Around midday, the M/Y Tucano navigates the Meeting of the Waters, an extraordinary phenomenon where the dark inky currents of the Rio Negro join the brown waters of the Amazon and flow together for miles without mixing. Later in the afternoon, step aboard the Tucano’s launches once again to scout along one of the region’s many hidden streams. This evening, your ship navigates upstream on the Rio Negro to a quiet anchorage along the bustling waterfront of Manaus. Join your fellow guests in the paneled Salon for a special Farewell Dinner. Meals B,L,D

Day 11 - Disembark and Explore Manaus
After a hearty, early morning breakfast you’ll step off ship in Manaus for a morning of sightseeing. Surrounded by miles of Amazon rainforest in every direction, this vibrant and energetic Brazilian city still retains the spirit of a true frontier town. Your city tour explores its colorful past when turn-of-the-century rubber barons made their fortunes and commissioned ornate buildings like the Amazon Theater and Customs House. Your sightseeing ends at the airport in time for your onward journey. Meals B
