Stand in Plaza Mayor and admire the Cathedral; built in the 18th century, this handsome building is the oldest on the Square. Day 3 - Fly to Cuzco and descend into the Sacred ValleyEarly this morning, you’ll be taken to the airport for your included flight to Cuzco, the fabled capital of the once-mighty Inca Empire. Enjoy a light lunch upon arrival and then journey into the picturesque Sacred Valley. At Awanacancha, you’ll see alpacas, llamas and vicuñas and learn about ancient weaving techniques still in use today throughout the timeless villages of this peaceful valley. Explore the colorful market in Pisac where mountain villagers come from afar to sell their goods. It’s an excellent place to shop for sweaters, rugs, handcarved musical instruments and ceramics. Day 4 - Excursion to Maras, Moray and OllantaytamboEnriching exploration into the Incan legacy and Colonial heritage of the Sacred Valley begins this morning with a visit to the Terraces of Moray, one of the most intriguing and enigmatic Incan sites in Peru. Here you will see concentric, ring-shaped terraces that descend deep into the Earth, like a giant bowl. Unlike other Inca sites where temples, fortresses and palaces predominate, the purpose of these terraces is not completely clear. Then at Maras, you will marvel at a sprawling complex of terraced salt mines which have been worked by generations of the same families. After lunch, continue your explorations at the spectacular fortress ruins of Ollantaytambo, so well built and strategically positioned that the Incas were able to defend this site against the Spanish in 1537. The ancient stonework here is as fine as any in South America. Then stroll along the narrow lanes of Ollantaytambo, an ancient town where the daily rhythms of life have changed little over the past 600 years. Meals B,L

Day 7 - Out and about in Cuzco #WHS#Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a free morning to relax or explore as you wish. In the afternoon, rejoin your guide and ascend into the hills outside of town to Sacsayhuaman - where you’ll have panoramic views over the terra cotta roof tops of Cuzco and the mountain peaks beyond; this celebrated Incan site was built from massive limestone blocks, cut with such precision that they fit together perfectly like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Back in the city, you’ll visit the Almudena Cemetery and San Pedro Market; here, your guide offers fascinating insight into how ancient traditions – many dating back to Inca times – still endure in the life of local residents.
Next up is our specially-arranged visit to a local child care center that provides shelter, food and clothing for young children. We encourage you to bring supplies and donations. This experience is an opportunity to 'Make a Difference' here in Peru and is one which you will always cherish.
