Day 1 - Lima, Peru

Day 2 - Explore the Capital
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a free morning to relax or explore as you wish. Your hotel’s outstanding location makes it easy to step out for a relaxing stroll along the popular promenade which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. This afternoon, your engaging guide will be waiting to show you the highlights of the city which he loves and knows so well. Your sightseeing unfolds with the fine Colonial architecture of downtown Lima #WHS#. Stand in Plaza Mayor and admire the Cathedral; built in the 18th century, this handsome building is the oldest on the Square. Then tour the Larco Herrera Museum, renowned for its stunning collection of pre-Columbian artifacts. This evening, we’ve arranged for you to dine at Huaca Pucllana. This fine-dining restaurant offers outstanding cuisine, a serene ambience and unforgettable views in a most striking and unusual location – within the excavated compound of a sacred pyramid of the 4th century. Day 3 - Fly to Cuzco and descend into the Sacred Valley
Early this morning, you’ll be taken to the airport for your included flight to Cuzco, the fabled capital of the once-mighty Inca Empire. Enjoy a light lunch upon arrival and then journey into the picturesque Sacred Valley. At Awanacancha, you’ll see alpacas, llamas and vicuñas and learn about ancient weaving techniques still in use today throughout the timeless villages of this peaceful valley. Explore the colorful market in Pisac where mountain villagers come from afar to sell their goods. It’s an excellent place to shop for sweaters, rugs, handcarved musical instruments and ceramics. Then check in to the Aranwa Sacred Valley Spa Resort. Unwind and indulge after this day of travel and sightseeing with a complimentary 30-minute massage. Meals B,L,D

Day 4 - Excursion to Maras, Moray and Ollantaytambo
Enriching exploration into the Incan legacy and Colonial heritage of the Sacred Valley begins this morning with a visit to the Terraces of Moray, one of the most intriguing and enigmatic Incan sites in Peru. Here you will see concentric, ring-shaped terraces that descend deep into the Earth, like a giant bowl. Unlike other Inca sites where temples, fortresses and palaces predominate, the purpose of these terraces is not completely clear. Then at Maras, you will marvel at a sprawling complex of terraced salt mines which have been worked by generations of the same families. After lunch, continue your explorations at the spectacular fortress ruins of Ollantaytambo, so well built and strategically positioned that the Incas were able to defend this site against the Spanish in 1537. The ancient stonework here is as fine as any in South America. Then stroll along the narrow lanes of Ollantaytambo, an ancient town where the daily rhythms of life have changed little over the past 600 years. Meals B,L

Day 5 - Through the scenic Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu #WHS#
Your two-day visit to Machu Picchu begins this morning with a scenic rail journey through the Urubamba River Valley - past snowcapped Andean peaks, quiet villages and terraced fields. Explore the mountaintop citadel as your expert Trip Leader illuminates the history, glory and amazing architectural achievements of the ancient Inca Empire. Enjoy a congenial lunch at the renowned Orient-Express Sanctuary Lodge. Tonight, you’re sure to slumber peacefully in your private casita at the Inkaterra El Pueblo Hotel, an enchanting resort set in a tranquil cloud forest at the base of Machu Picchu. Meals B,L,D

Day 6 - Return to Machu Picchu and take the train to Cuzco
Enjoy the luxury of a second guided visit through the fabled Lost City of the Inca. Arriving early as the softer morning light breaks over the mountain peaks to fall upon these ancient stones, you’ll have the unforgettable opportunity to experience the majesty and power of Machu Picchu – before the day visitors arrive by train! Please note that caution is required as the stones and paths can be quite slippery with morning dew. Take the afternoon train back to Cuzco and check in to the Aranwa Hotel. Day 7 - Out and about in Cuzco #WHS#
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a free morning to relax or explore as you wish. In the afternoon, rejoin your guide and ascend into the hills outside of town to Sacsayhuaman - where you’ll have panoramic views over the terra cotta roof tops of Cuzco and the mountain peaks beyond; this celebrated Incan site was built from massive limestone blocks, cut with such precision that they fit together perfectly like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Back in the city, you’ll visit the Almudena Cemetery and San Pedro Market; here, your guide offers fascinating insight into how ancient traditions – many dating back to Inca times – still endure in the life of local residents. Next up is our specially-arranged visit to a local child care center that provides shelter, food and clothing for young children. We encourage you to bring supplies and donations. This experience is an opportunity to 'Make a Difference' here in Peru and is one which you will always cherish. Continue to the historic heart of Cuzco and explore the city’s splendidly preserved ancient and Colonial-era landmarks, including the Temple of the Sun and the impressive Cathedral. Meals: D

Day 8 - Overland to Lake Titicaca!
Set out this morning to visit San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas.” This simple adobe church, adorned with breathtaking paintings, murals and gilded carvings, is one of the finest examples of Colonial art in the Americas. Then continue your overland journey through the stunning high-mountain landscapes of the Andes to Puno, set on the shores of Lake Titicaca. At more than 12,000 feet above sea level, this mesmerizing expanse of deep blue water is the highest navigable body of water on the planet! Day 9 - Across Lake Titicaca
Lake Titicaca is one of the highest lakes in the world and the largest in South America. It’s breathtaking to behold and is revered in Andean legend as a sacred body of water. In the company of our engaging and knowledgeable guide, today’s sightseeing excursion will take you across the lake waters to visit the amazing floating islands, made of Totora reeds and home to communities of the Uros people. Your exploration also takes you to Taquile Island to see the Inca terraces that climb the hillsides and to meet with island residents renowned for their finely woven textiles. Your sightseeing ends on a remote private island surrounded by the blue waters of Titicaca. Here you’ll find the incomparable Casa Andina Private Collection Suasi Island Lodge. Day 10 - Fly to Lima and drive to Paracas
After a leisurely morning in this unforgettable private island setting, you’ll journey back to Puno for your included flight to Lima. Arrive in the capital and continue your travels overland along the desert coast southward to Paracas. Day 11 - High above the Nazca Lines #WHS#
This morning you’ll take to the skies in a small plane for a bird’s-eye view of the Nazca Lines, one of the world’s most intriguing and enduring mysteries. Etched into the dry Earth below, you’ll marvel at these enormous line drawings that cover the arid plain – including a spider, condor, fish and monkey. The balance of this day is at leisure to enjoy the fine resort-style amenities of your stylish 5-star hotel. Meals B,L,D

Day 12 - Cruise to the Ballestas Islands and return to Lima
This morning finds you on the way to Peru’s largest coastal wildlife sanctuary, encompassing the Ballestas Islands and surrounding Pacific waters. Your cruise excursion is a great way to see the indigenous wildlife, including thousands of resident and migratory sea birds and colonies of sea lions and seals. Then drive back to Lima, where our tour services end at the airport. Meals B
