Rajputana Palace SheratonHotel Class: Deluxe The Rajputana palace Sheraton is just outside the city center, providing guests with the opportunity to explore the city's shopping and cultural events. Taj GangesHotel Class: Deluxe Located on the Raja Bazar Road at Nadesar Palace Grounds and set amidst twelve acres of lush greenery, the Taj Ganges boasts 130 guestrooms offering central air conditioning, direct dial telephone, color satellite television, and available wireless internet access. Leisure facilities at the Taj Ganges include an outdoor pool, fitness equipment, tennis courts and onsite spa. The property also features a coffee shop with an attached bar, and two restaurants, the Chowk and Varuna, serving Intercontinental and Indian cuisine.
Day 1 - Delhi, India
Arrive Delhi and check-in to the deluxe Le Meridien Hotel, centrally located near India Gate and Connaught Place. Day 2 - Explore Delhi Today’s escorted sightseeing explore the many facets of this bustling city, from ancient monuments and dramatic moments of post-Colonial history to the vibrancy of 21st century city life. Visit Raj Ghat, the evocative memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, and then delve into fascinating Old Delhi, including a rickshaw tour through the bustling streets. You’ll see the imposing Red Fort, a powerful symbol of the Mughal Empire, and Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India. Delight in the exuberance of Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colorful Old Delhi market, and visit a city bakery to sample freshly-made jalebi, a popular and traditional sweet here in north India. Then experience the rhythms of modern life as you join your guide for a Metro ride to New Delhi. Designed and built by the British in the 1920’s, this part of the city is filled with palatial-sized buildings set on broad tree-lined avenues. Drive along Rajghat, the main avenue, and see the India Gate and Parliament House. You also visit Qutab Minar#WHS# and Emperor Humayun’s Tomb#WHS#. Tonight, we’ve arranged for you and your fellow travelers to savor delightful Indian cuisine at Veda, one of our favorite restaurants in the capital. Meals B,D Day 3 - Delhi / Udaipur Today you fly to Udaipur, perhaps the most romantic city in India. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted to the first class Trident Hotel, set amidst 43 acres of lush landscaping on the shores of Pichola Lake. Settle-in to your comfortable guestroom and then enjoy a boat cruise across the picturesque lake. Dinner tonight is at your hotel. Meals B,D Day 4 - Explore Udaipur Udaipur has been called India’s "City of Dreams" and you’ll see why as you explore Udaipur’s huge City Palace and its museum that contains superb examples of Mogul painting and carving. You’ll also visit the Jagdish temple, which enshrines a black stone image of Lord Vishnu and his vehicle - a mighty bird called Garuda. At Sahelion Ki Bari you’ll have time to wander through the spectacular garden and perhaps get a glimpse into the lifestyles of the Royal ladies who once lived in these opulent palaces. After lunch at an in-town restaurant, the afternoon is at leisure to relax or explore at your own pace. Meals B,L Day 5 - Udaipur / Jaipur Fly to Jaipur, India’s famous ‘Pink City,’ where you’ll be greeted and escorted to the deluxe Rajputana Sheraton Hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure, a perfect opportunity to do some shopping in Jaipur – famous for its brightly embroidered fabrics, carved wooden boxes and finely-crafted jewelry. Meals B Day 6 - Explore Jaipur Ascend to the Amber Palace atop an elephant and tour this grand monument, legacy of the never-conquered Rajput Kingdom, with its lavish courtyards, beautifully decorated halls and a lovely Chamber of Mirrors. Returning to the city, you’ll visit the Palace Museum to admire its fabulous displays of miniature paintings and traditional Rajasthani royal costumes. See the lovely Palace of the Winds and tour Jantar Mantar, an accurate observatory built in 1726. Immerse in the fascinating daily rhythms of the Pink City on a rickshaw ride and guided walking tour through town. Meals B,D Day 7 - Jaipur / Agra Journey into the Rajasthani countryside, a captivating landscape of timeless villages and a fascinating flow of traffic - including farm vehicles, elephants, camels, and women dressed in the brilliantly colored saris of the region! En route to Agra, visit the perfectly preserved, red sandstone “ghost town,” Fatehpur Sikri#WHS#. Built in the 16th century by Emperor Akbar, this veritable fairy tale city and its “ruins” are still in pristine condition, making it easy to imagine the opulence of long-ago court life. Arrive Agra and check-in to the 5-star Mughal Luxury Collection Hotel, set amidst 35 acres of enchanting gardens. Meals B,L,D Day 8 - Explore Agra & the Taj Mahal Arise early this morning for your sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal#WHS#, and witness in awe as the translucent white marble of this monument-to-love catches the first golden light of the morning. Return to your hotel for breakfast and continue your touring at the Agra Fort#WHS#, a hilltop citadel with fabulous courtyards, fountains, and gates. Explore the colorful bazaars of the city and then enjoy lunch and a cooking class. Late in the afternoon, return to the Taj Mahal to marvel at the beauty of this edifice as the sunlight softens to a warm golden glow and sets below the distant horizon. Meals B,L Day 9 - Agra / Delhi / Varanasi Depart after breakfast for Delhi where you board your flight for Varanasi. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted to the deluxe Taj Gateway Hotel Ganges. This evening, descend to the banks of the River Ganges to witness the Aarti Ceremony, a beautiful spectacle of light and devotion. Dine by the river and return to your hotel for a restful overnight. Meals B,D Day 10 - Explore Varanasi This is one of the most ancient cities in the world and the center of the Hindu faith. At dawn, take a boat ride on the sacred River Ganges and see thousands of Hindu devotees descend to the holy waters for purification – a powerful and evocative sight. Visit an Ashram near the river for a Yoga session and then return to your hotel for breakfast. Your morning sightseeing tour includes Benaras Hindu University and Bharat Mata (Mother India) Temple. An afternoon excursion to Sarnath shows the spot where Buddha delivered his first sermon. The museum here is one of the most important in India, with spectacular carvings that span more than a millennium, from the 3rd century B.C. to the 12th century A.D. Meals B Day 11 - Varanasi / Delhi Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before your return flight to Delhi. Upon arrival, you’ll be met and escorted to the deluxe Le Meridien Hotel.
