Hotel Class: First Class
Situated in the heart of the oldest part of Brasov – known as Scheii Brasovului – the Curtea Brasoveana boarding house unites the quaintness of old-fashioned tradition and the comfort and convenience of modernity. Located conveniently near the tourist attractions of Dracula’s Castle, the Black Church, and the beautiful slopes of Poiana Brasov, the boarding house also offers guests a fitness center, including sauna. Its 14 rooms include breakfast, cable TV, mini fridge, mini-bar, internet access, hairdryer, and safe.

Hilton Athenee Palace
Hotel Class: Deluxe
Set in the heart of the city, the historic Athenee Palace is ideally situated within minutes of the Royal Palace, shops, and attractions of downtown Bucharest. Meals can be enjoyed at any of 5 restaurants, or in the comfort of one’s room via 24-hour room service. For guests wishing to relax on hotel premises, a pool, fitness center, beauty salon, casino, newsstand, convenience store, gift shop, and recreation desk are all available. Yantra Hotel

Complete with 70 double rooms and 4 luxury suites, the Yantra Hotel is situated at the center of Veliko Turnovo. The hotel offers dining facilities, a bar, massage, satellite TV, sports facilities, an indoor swimming pool and a jacuzzi.
 
Day 1 - Bucharest

Day 2 - Explore Bucharest
Today’s sightseeing includes the Palace of Parliament (the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon), the Metropolitan Church, Romanian Athenaeum and Arch of Triumph. Visit Harastrau Park and enjoy a guided stroll through the open-air Folk Village Museum. The rest of the afternoon is free. Meals B

Day 3 - Transylvania Alps / Sibiel home-hosted visit
Journey through the Transylvania Alps and Olt River valley and visit the 14th century Cozia Monastery. Arrive in Sibiel for a home-hosted Romanian dinner with a village family and overnight at a delightful local inn. Meals B,D Sibiel Inn

Day 4 - Sibiu / Biertan / Sighisoara / Brasov
A walking tour in Sibiu, once the richest town in Transylvania, includes the Cathedral and Brukenthal Art Gallery. Then visit Biertan to see the Saxon fortress-church#WHS# and continue on to Sighisoara#WHS# – the best-preserved fortified town in Romania, where you see the Clock Tower Museum, Torture and Weapons Rooms and the house where Dracula was born. Day 5 - Explore Transylvania
Visit the spectacular Bran Castle, before touring the fairytale town of Brasov, founded in the 12th century. See Black Church, so-named after its massive Gothic walls were blackened by a fire that devastated much of the town. At a local museum housed in the country’s first school, the engaging curator, Professer Olteanu Vasile, presents a brief talk about Romania – past and present. Meals B,D

Day 6 - Brasov / Veliko Tarnovo
Visit Peles Castle, once the summer residence of Romanian royalty. Cross the Danube River through the famous “Valley of the Roses” to Veliko Tarnovo, former capital of the Bulgarian Empire. Check-in to your first class hotel. Meals B,D Yantra Hotel

Day 7 - Veliko Tarnovo
Today’s guided tour explores the breathtaking medieval quarter of Veliko Tarnovo and historical Tsarevets Hill, a medieval stronghold that once housed the royal palaces of the Second Bulgarian Empire. Meals B

Day 8 - Arbanasi / Kazanlik / Plovdiv
Depart for picturesque Arbanasi to visit the Church of the Nativity – the most richly decorated in Bulgaria. In Etara, visit the open-air museum of Bulgarian architecture depicting life during the 18th century Revival Period. Cross the Balkan Mountains through the scenic Shipka Pass to Kazanlik to see an ancient Thracian Tomb and Hellenistic frescos#WHS# of the 3rd century. Visit the Rose Museum and learn the secrets of Bulgaria’s famous Rose Oil Perfume. Arrive in Plovdiv and tour the Old Town and a Roman amphitheater. Check-in to your city-center, first class hotel. Day 9 - Travel to Rila Monastery & Sofia

Day 10 - Discover Sofia
