Day 1 - Welcome to Cairo
Check-in to the Sofitel El Gezirah and settle-in to your stylish Nile-view room.

Day 2 - A great pyramid, a very old boat and a camel...
Gaze upon the Great Pyramids#WHS# of Giza and ponder the enigmatic Sphinx, a colossal carving of a recumbent lion with the head of a man. We’ve also arranged for entry to the Solar Boat Museum to see the ancient funerary barge of King Cheops. Return to the city and visit the famed Cairo Museum, the perfect introduction to the many wonders you’ll explore on your Nile cruise. This evening’s twilight tour though Old Cairo#WHS# is the perfect finish to this extraordinary day of discovery. Meals B

Day 3 - Step aboard the Sun Goddess
Fly to Luxor#WHS# to embark your 4-star Nile cruiser. Stand before the massive pillars of Karnak Temple and admire the grandeur and perfect proportions of the Hypostyle Hall, the largest hall of any temple in the world. Continue on with our skilled Egyptologists to explore the Valley of Kings, where 64 of Egypt’s rulers were buried. Then ride a horse-drawn carraige to visit the Luxor Museum. Meals B,L,D

Day 4 - Cruising the Nile toward Esna
Timeless vistas along the Nile punctuate this day of cruising. Afternoon tea and relaxing onboard are great opportunities to engage with our shipboard experts. This evening, meet the Captain at your welcome cocktail party. Meals B,L,D

Day 5 - Ashore in Edfu and on to Kom Ombo
Step ashore in Edfu to visit the remarkable Temple of Haroeris, rich in design, intricate in detail, ingenious in its construction. Haroeris, the falcon-headed Sun God, was one of the oldest forms of the deity Horus and his temple had daily importance to the ancient Egyptians; this prominence is reflected in the extraordinary quality of every element and detail here. This is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt - with its great pylon, exterior walls, courts, halls and sanctuary all virtually intact; the carvings here are marvelous depictions of ancient mythology. After dinner, don your Galabya for a shipboard party. Meals B,L,D

Day 6 - From Kom Ombo to Aswan
The upper Nile boasts many fascinating sites. Today you will explore the dual-deity Temple of Kom Ombo, built on a picturesque bend in the Nile where crocodiles used to sun themselves. Dating to the Ptolemaic period, this unusual temple is dedicated to Sobek the Crocodile God and Horus the Sun God. In contrast to this ancient wonder, the remarkable High Dam at Aswan is an achievement that belongs to modern Egypt. Marvel at this imposing construction and then visit the granite quarries where ancient Egyptians engineered the seemingly impossible - creating their towering obelisks. You’ll see the famous Unfinished Obelisk, still attached to bedrock, and then visit Philae Temple dedicated to the Goddess Isis. Then step aboard a felucca, ancient craft of the Nile, and sail around Kitchener Island, lush with tropical plantings. Meals B,L,D

Day 7 - Back to Cairo
Disembark the Sun Goddess this morning and fly back to Cairo, where you’ll be met and escorted to the luxurious Sofitel el Gezirah. An optional excursion to Abu Simbel including roundtrip flights is available. Meals B

Day 8 - A fond farewell to Cairo
Your program with us finishes after breakfast. Meals B
