Day 1 - Welcome to Barcelona

Day 2 - Discover Barcelona
Today’s sightseeing showcases the magnificent architecture of Antoni Gaudi #WHS#, including the inspiring Sagrada Familia and famous Casa Battló. Meals B

Day 3 - To Zaragoza and Santo Domingo de la Calzada
Journey to Zaragoza for a walking tour in this ancient city on the banks of the Ebro River. Founded 2,000 years ago, it’s rich with the architectural legacy of Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian communities. Its stunning Mudéjar churches #WHS# are a harmonious blend of these Islamic and European traditions. Join your guide in two of his favorite tapas bars for a light lunch and then continue to Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Check in to the enchanting parador located right on the town square of this charming village. Meals B,L

Day 4 - On to La Rioja and into Basque Country
Travel into the esteemed vineyard region of La Rioja and sample fine vintages in an historic wine cellar. Stop to enjoy lunch in Vitoria, capital of Basque Country, and tour Pamplona – the city that captivated Hemingway. Travel to Hondarribia and stay at the tranquil Jaizkibel Hotel. Meals B,L

Day 5 - Excursion to San Sebastian
Enjoy a morning cable car ride on Monte Igueldo and a tour of historic San Sebastian. This erstwhile fishing village on the lovely Bay of Biscay is surrounded by mountains just 15 miles from the French border. Meals B,D

Day 6 - Visit Bilbao and travel to Santillana del Mar
Explore Bilbao’s historic district and delight in the post-modern exuberance of the famed Guggenheim Bilbao Museum before touring its collection. Enjoy lunch in the museum’s avant-garde bistro and continue to the Parador Gil Blas, set in a stately 18th-century home in Santillana del Mar. Meals B,L

Day 7 - Along the coast to Picos de Europa National Park
Tour the coastal enclaves of Santander, Santillana and Comillas before reveling in the mountain landscapes of northern Spain. Enjoy dinner and a tranquil overnight at the parador in Cangas de Onis. Meals B,D

Day 8 - To Oviedo #WHS# and León
Explore the historic city center of Oviedo and drive to León where your walking tour includes the handsome 13th-century cathedral. Gather for dinner and overnight at the Parador de León Meals B,D

Day 9 - Onward to Santiago de Compostela #WHS#
Step into history and legend as you tour this sacred city, so important to medieval pilgrims and revered as the burial place of the apostle St. James. Overnight at the 4-star Virxe da Cerca Hotel. Meals B

Day 10 - Across the border to Porto
Drive across the border at Valença and tour Braga, the religious capital of Portugal. Visit the Ducal Palace in Guimaraes before arriving in lovely Porto. A cruise on the Douro River in a traditional rabelo boat is the perfect introduction to this lovely city. Check in to the 5-star Hotel Infante Sagres, ideally located near the historic quarter. Day 11 - Discover Porto #WHS#
With 1,000 years of history, Porto is famed for its many architectural treasures. Visit San Francisco Church and the Cathedral before crossing the river to explore Vila Nova de Gaia. Sample world-famous Porto wine and enjoy a free evening. Meals B

Day 12 - On the road to Lisbon
Tour the magnificent University of Coimbra, founded in 1290. Then travel to Lisbon where you check in to the 5-star Hotel Avenida Palace. Tonight, join fellow guests for a dinner show featuring Fado; the traditional music of Portugal is both haunting and lyrical. Meals B,D

Day 13 - Explore Lisbon
Today is devoted to the captivating sites of the city including Jeronimos Monastery, a splendid example of Portugal’s distinctive Manueline architecture, and the Belém Tower #WHS#, built in 1515. Ride aboard the historic electrico tram and pause to sample Lisbon’s most famous treat, Pasteis de Belem, in the original shop where it was created. Tonight’s farewell dinner will be in one of the city’s oldest restaurants. Meals B,D

Day 14 - Farewell to Portugal
