Curtea Brasoveana

Situated in the heart of the oldest part of Brasov – known as Scheii Brasovului – the Curtea Brasoveana boarding house unites the quaintness of old-fashioned tradition and the comfort and convenience of modernity. Located conveniently near the tourist attractions of Dracula’s Castle, the Black Church, and the beautiful slopes of Poiana Brasov, the boarding house also offers guests a fitness center, including sauna. Its 14 rooms include breakfast, cable TV, mini fridge, mini-bar, internet access, hairdryer, and safe.

Hilton Athenee Palace
Hotel Class: Deluxe
Set in the heart of the city, the historic Athenee Palace is ideally situated within minutes of the Royal Palace, shops, and attractions of downtown Bucharest. Meals can be enjoyed at any of 5 restaurants, or in the comfort of one’s room via 24-hour room service. For guests wishing to relax on hotel premises, a pool, fitness center, beauty salon, casino, newsstand, convenience store, gift shop, and recreation desk are all available. Every one of the 272 spacious rooms offers a balcony with views of Victoria Avenue, Revolution Square, or the hotel’s courtyard garden, as well as amenities such as wireless internet access, AC, premium cable TV, video games, mini-bar, safe, hairdryer, and marble bathroom.

Trimontium Hotel

The Trimontium Hotel is located downtown in Plovdiv at one end of the main shopping and business center, adjacent to the City garden. The hotel itself has two restaurants, 158 rooms and a casual elegance that relaxes guests into vacationing. All rooms have satellite TV, telephone, air-conditioning, mini-bar, luxury bathrooms with tub/Jacuzzi, and hairdryer. The hotel’s casino is the second largest in the country.

Sibiel Inn

Each stay will be different through this program; guests stay with families in country inns along the route of the tour and experience the culture and life of native residents first hand.

Sofia Hilton
Hotel Class: Deluxe
Centrally located in Sofia, the Sofia Hilton Hotel offers guests excellent views as well as access to the shopping and culture of the city. All guest rooms have air-conditioning, cable TV, minibar, telephone, and internet. Additional amenities include restaurant, bar, fitness room, solarium, and pool.

Yantra Hotel
Hotel Class: First Class
Complete with 70 double rooms and 4 luxury suites, the Yantra Hotel is situated at the center of Veliko Turnovo. The hotel offers dining facilities, a bar, massage, satellite TV, sports facilities, an indoor swimming pool and a jacuzzi.
 
 
Day 1 - Bucharest
Check-in to the deluxe Hilton Athenee Palace and relax before dinner. Meals D

Day 2 - Explore Bucharest
Join your guide this morning and get to know the Romanian capital, once known as the ‘Paris of the East’. You’ll see the imposing Palace of Parliament, Metropolitan Church, Romanian Athenaeum, and open-air Folk Village Museum. Meals B

Day 3 - Across the Transylvania Alps to Sibiu
Visit the Curtea de Arges Monastery, one of the loveliest churches in Romania. Continue through Alpine landscapes into the scenic Olt River Valley to the 14th century Cozia Monastery. In picturesque Sibiel, enjoy the hospitality of a village family and then slumber peacefully at a local farmhouse inn. Meals B,D

Day 4 - World Heritage Sites and the birthplace of Dracula!
Tour Sibiu, once the richest town in Transylvania, and then visit Biertan to see the Saxon fortress-church#WHS#. Continue on to Sighisoara#WHS# – the best-preserved fortified town in Romania, where you see the Clock Tower Museum, Torture and Weapons Rooms, and the house where Dracula was born in 1432. Arrive in Brasov for dinner and check-in to the Curtea Brasoveana Hotel. Meals B,D

Day 5 - Out and about in Transylvania
Tour the fairytale town of Brasov, founded in the 12th century and home to the historic Black Church, so-named after its massive Gothic walls were blackened by a fire that devastated much of the town. Then visit Bran Castle, made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel. At a local museum housed in the country’s first school, Professer Olteanu Vasile presents a brief talk about Romania – past and present. Meals B

Day 6 - From Brasov into Bulgaria
through the famous “Valley of the Roses” to Veliko Tarnovo, former capital of the Bulgarian Empire. Check-in to the first class Yantra Hotel. Meals B,D

Day 7 - Explore ancient Veliko Tarnovo
Explore the medieval quarter of Veliko Tarnovo and historic Tsarevets Hill. In picturesque Arbanasi, the Church of the Nativity is richly decorated with 17th century frescoes. Meals B

Day 8 - Through the Shipka Pass to Plovdiv
Visit the open-air museum in Etara and cross the Balkan Mountains through the scenic Shipka Pass to Kazanlik to see an ancient Thracian Tomb and Hellenistic frescos#WHS# of the 3rd century. Tour the Old Town in ancient Plovdiv and check-in to the Trimontium Princess Hotel. Meals B,D

Day 9 - The Rila Monastery and onward to Sofia
Tour the 10th century Rila Monastery#WHS#, famed for its amazing frescoes. Continue to Sofia and your hotel, the deluxe Hilton Hotel. Meals B

Day 10 - Discover Sofia
Visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Saint Nicholas Church and the Rotunda of St. George Church, the oldest in Sofia. Enjoy a free afternoon before our farewell dinner. Meals B,D

Day 11 - Farewell, Sofia
