Day 1 - Beijing

Day 2 - Discover Beijing
Your full day escorted sightseeing begins in Tiananmen Square, the largest public plaza in the world. Then explore through the splendid courtyards, pavilions, and palaces of the imposing Forbidden City#WHS#, once the exclusive enclave of Ming Dynasty Emperors. Then step aboard rickshaws to ride through a hutong, one of Beijing’s old settlements, where you’ll meet with a resident family to learn about life in this rapidly evolving, yet ancient, city. Tonight, you’ll savor a Beijing specialty at our Peking Duck banquet. Meals B,L,D

Day 3 - Beijing – Great Wall & Ming Tombs Excursion
A thrilling day unfolds as you travel into the rugged mountain landscapes north of Beijing, where the Great Wall#WHS# stretches onward for thousands of miles. You’ll walk atop this ancient fortification and then stroll along the statue-lined Sacred Way to visit the Ming Tombs#WHS#, burial site of 13 Chinese Emperors. Back in the city, see the amazing Olympic venues, including the National Stadium and Aquatics Center. Meals B,L

Day 4 - Beijing – Temple of Heaven / Xian
Visit the 15th century Temple of Heaven, a marvel of Ming Dynasty architectural styling and engineering. Then fly to Xian where you’ll be met and escorted to the luxury Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel. Tonight, we’ll take you to the Tang Dynasty Dinner Show, a marvelous presentation of classical Chinese music and dance. Meals B,D

Day 5 - Xian – Touch Antiquity
Join museum staff at the Xian Museum this morning to Touch Antiquity – a rare and exciting opportunity to handle and learn about rare artifacts from China’s ancient past, some more than 3,000 years old. Then visit the excavation site of the Terra Cotta Warriors#WHS#, China’s most important archaeological discovery, where a vast terra cotta army was buried 2,000 years ago to guard the tomb of China’s first emperor. At lunch, enjoy a lively demonstration in the art of noodle-making. Meals B,L

Day 6 - Xian / Chengdu – Encounter a Panda
Fly to Chengdu this morning where you’ll be met and escorted to the deluxe Crown Plaza Hotel. This afternoon, an exclusive experience awaits! At the Panda Breeding Station, we’ve made special arrangements for you to Encounter a Panda, an exciting opportunity to feed and learn about the care of these amazing animals. This evening, thrill to the artistry of the Sichuan Opera, renowned for the amazing skill of actors who can subtly change their masks and make-up 10 times in the span of less than one minute! Day 7 - Chengdu / Lhasa, Tibet
Fly to Tibet and transfer to the new Sheraton Hotel, centrally located in the heart of town close to the Jokhang Monastery. Your comfortable guestroom offers a peaceful place to relax before dinner. Meals B,D

Day 8 - Lhasa - Go Inside Tibet
Join your guide this morning to explore Norbulinka, the tranquil summer palace of the Dalai Lamas. Then Go Inside Tibet at the beautiful Sera Monastery. This exclusive General Tours experience brings you behind the scenes at the Monastery, with resident Buddhist monks leading the way through their living quarters. It’s a rare and enriching insight into their life and customs. Later, you’ll also meet with a doctor to learn about traditional Tibetan healing. Meals B,L,D

Day 9 - Lhasa
Today’s touring deepens your understanding and appreciation of life, culture, and spirituality here in Tibet. Visit the Potala Palace#WHS#, former residence of the Dalai Lama. Explore the lively Barkhor Market and the nearby Jokhang Monastery, a center of Buddhist pilgrimage for centuries. Later, spend time with a master artist to learn about Thangkas – colorful, finely detailed religious paintings that have long been a Buddhist tradition. This evening, you’ll sample traditional Tibetan cooking. Meals B,L,D

Day 10 - Lhasa / Chongqing / Embark Yangtze Ship
Fly to Chongqing and join your guide for a guided walking tour through the bustling downtown – a fascinating glimpse into the rhythms of life in this vibrant metropolis in central China. Enjoy a dinner of regional cuisine and then board your luxurious all-balcony Yangtze ship, the flagship Victoria Anna or the brand new Victoria Jenna. Meals B,D

Day 11 - Cruising / Fengdu
Step off ship for sightseeing in the unique “Ghost City” of Fengdu. Visit some of the city’s ancient temples, where fantastic carvings depict characters and beasts from Chinese mythology . Meals B,L,D

Day 12 - Cruising / Three Gorges and Lesser Gorges
Cruise Qutang Gorge, the narrowest of the Three Gorges. Later, journey up a Yangtze tributary through the spectacular canyons of the Lesser Gorges before passing through Wu Gorge. Meals B,L,D

Day 13 - Cruising / Three Gorges Dam / Shanghai
Visit the Three Gorges Dam before passing through its locks. Disembark in Yichang and fly to Shanghai where you’ll be met and escorted to the deluxe Sofitel Hyland, ideally located on world-famous Nanjing Road. Meals B,L

Day 14 - Explore Shanghai – Acrobat Show
Today’s in-depth sightseeing begins with a drive along the Bund, Shanghai’s elegant waterfront boulevard. Marvel at the towering skyscrapers in the Pudong District that have literally transformed the city’s skyline. Stroll through the lovely Yu Yuan Garden and explore the impressive collection of the Shanghai Museum. Tonight, savor dim sum at dinner before we take you to the Shanghai Acrobat Show, for an amazing display of artistry and athletic skill. Meals B,L,D
