Kapawi
Hotel Class: Lodge
The Kapawi Lodge is settled on the edge of the Kapawi Lagoon, with nature-friendly buildings. The 20 rooms have private bathrooms, sun-heated showers, and mosquito netting. Each room has a wide terrace to overlook the lodge and the river. Guests can go bird watching, visit local communities, go hiking, camping, or canoeing. Meals are served in the dinning room, where guests have a chance to relax, mingle, and enjoy local cuisine.

Set by the Guayas River, the Hilton Colon Guayaquil hotel just minutes away from local cultural spots and Heritage Park. The hotel features an outdoor pool and spa and fitness center and onsite casino. Italian cuisine is available in the Portofino Restaurant and Ecuadorian fare in Café Colon or enjoy cake and coffee in the Hilton Colon Guayaquil hotel's deli. Day 1 - Quito, Ecuador

Day 2 - Fly to the Amazon
Fly to a remote airstrip in the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin where you are met by your hosts, members of the Achuar indigenous community. A 25-minute ride up the Pataza River in dugout canoes brings you to the spectacular, award-winning Kapawi Ecolodge – deep in the Amazon rainforest.

Day 3 - Explore the Amazon Rainforest
During your stay in Kapawi you will explore the tropical rain forest – the most complex ecosystem on earth. Every day in Kapawi includes a different adventure – jungle walks, dugout canoe journeys, bird watching and visits to the Achuar communities. The Achuar are your guides, sharing their knowledge of the rain forest and their rich culture with guests and interpreters. As you walk through the rain forest, you will be overwhelmed by the silence without realizing that there are 200 kinds of mammals. With some patience and luck you’ll get to see monkeys, giant otters and fresh-water dolphins. In Kapawi, during the past three years, 560 species of birds have been recorded. Your Achuar guide will point out toucans, macaws, parrots, hawks, kingfishers, orioles and flycatchers during walks in Kapawi. Meals B,L,D

Day 4 - Amazon Rainforest
Continue your adventures in the Amazon rainforest. Meals B,L,D

Day 5 - Depart Kapawi / Quito
You leave Kapawi today and journey back to Quito for a late evening arrival.

Day 6 - Quito #WHS#
This morning you’ll tour the colonial section of Quito founded in 1534. Then drive by the impressive Parliament Building and stroll downtown, visiting colonial churches and monasteries of this urban jewel. Meals B

Day 7 - Fly to the Galapagos Islands #WHS#
A late morning flight brings you to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal Island in the Galapagos where you embark the deluxe cruise ship, the MV Galapagos Explorer II. An afternoon visit to Cerro Brujo is an excellent spot to catch your first glimpse of pelicans and other Galapagos sea birds. Dinner onboard is followed by a briefing from the ship’s staff of naturalists – given each night to preview the next day’s activities.

Day 8 - Española Island / Hood Island
One of the oldest islands in the Galapagos, Española is notable for its birdlife. At Punta Suárez you see an incredible variety of wildlife including Española iguanas, Galapagos doves, blue-footed boobies, red-billed tropic birds, sea lions and the Galapagos albatross which can only be seen on this island. After lunch, visit Gardner Bay – a tranquil white sand beach where sea lions bask in the sun. A small dingy can carry you to spectacular Gardner Rock, home to white-tipped reef sharks and other marine life. Meals B,L,D

Day 9 - Santa Cruz Island / Rabida Island
On Santa Cruz, you’ll visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about the important Galapagos tortoise breeding program and then explore Puerto Ayora, the largest town on the islands. This afternoon, you’ll explore Rabida Island, dominated by red lava formations, and home to flamingos, colonies of sea lions and pelicans. Meals B,L,D

Day 10 - Santa Cruz / Fly to Guayaquil
Enjoy a morning walk to see the nesting sites of sea turtles on Bachas Beach, and then hike along the lagoon to observe flamingos, marine iguanas and blue herons. In the afternoon, disembark in Baltra for your return flight to Guayaquil. This evening’s dinner will be at your deluxe hotel, centrally located in this vibrant Pacific port.
