Day 2 - Discover Beijing
Join your Tour Manager today for an in-depth exploration of the city’s renowned landmarks. Stand in Tiananmen Square, the largest public plaza in the world, and explore through the imposing Forbidden City#WHS#, once the exclusive enclave of Ming Dynasty Emperors. Your visit to the lovely Summer Palace#WHS# reveals the opulent seasonal retreat of China’s Imperial rulers. From April to October, a boat ride on peaceful Kunming Lake is included. Meals B,L

Day 3 - Beijing – Great Wall & Ming Tombs Excursion
A thrilling day unfolds as you travel into the rugged mountain landscapes north of Beijing, where the Great Wall#WHS# stretches onward for thousands of miles. You’ll walk atop this ancient fortification and then visit the Ming Tombs#WHS#, burial site of 13 Chinese Emperors. Explore Changling Tomb, the largest and most architecturally grand of these ancient burial sites, and stroll along the statue-lined Sacred Way. Weather-permitting, try your hand at kite flying, a favorite pastime for the Chinese. Back in the city you’ll see the amazing venues of the 2008 Olympics including the National Stadium, known as the Bird’s Nest. Meals B,L

Day 4 - Beijing / Yichang – Embark your luxury ship
Step aboard rickshaws this morning and ride through a Hutong, one of Beijing’s old settlements, where you’ll meet with a resident family to learn about life in this rapidly evolving, yet ancient, city. In the afternoon, fly to Yichang and enjoy a dinner of regional cuisine. Then step aboard your luxury ship, the all-balcony Victoria Anna, to begin your voyage up this legendary river. Meals B,D

Day 5 - Cruising / Three Gorges Dam
The Three Gorges Dam is one of the greatest engineering feats in the world. Your visit to the Dam site explores the imposing physical structure of the Dam and the far-reaching impact that it’s had on the landscape and people of the region. Later, the Anna enters the 5-stage ship locks of the dam itself. Meals B,L,D

Day 6 - Cruising / Shennong Stream / Three Gorges
Disembark onto small boats for a dramatic journey up Shennong Stream, one of the most scenic of the Yangtze’s tributaries. Back on board, your ship continues through the lovely Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge, the narrowest and some say most spectacular of the Three Gorges. Meals B,L,D

Day 7 - Cruising / Fengdu
Today’s excursion explores the famous “Ghost City” of Fengdu. Numerous temples here, some dating to the 14th century, feature fantastic carvings and depictions of spirits and beings from Chinese mythologies. Meals B,L,D

Day 8 - Arrive Chongqing / Fly to Xian
Upon disembarkation, visit the Panda Hall at the Chongqing Zoo, before your flight to Xian, the ancient capital of China for 13 dynasties. Check-in to the luxurious Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel. Meals B,L

Day 9 - Xian
Ancient history unfolds as you visit the actual excavation site of The Terra Cotta Warriors#WHS#, China’s most important archaeological discovery. See this vast terra cotta army buried 2,000 years ago to guard the tomb of China’s first emperor. Then join your guide to explore a colorful local market and stop by the ancient city walls. Bicycles are available for rental if you wish to ride atop this ancient fortification. At lunch, you’ll be treated to a lively demonstration in the ancient art of noodle-making. Meals B,L

Day 10 - Xian - Touch Antiquity / Hong Kong
This morning you’ll join staff at the Xian Museum for our unique Touch Antiquity experience, a rare opportunity to examine and handle priceless artifacts, thousands of years old. Later, fly to Hong Kong where you’ll be met and escorted to the elegant Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel, ideally situated on Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor. Meals B,L

Day 11 - Explore Hong Kong
This morning’s Hong Kong Island Tour begins atop Victoria Peak with a breathtaking tableau of city and water laid out before you. Then continue to scenic Repulse Bay and Aberdeen Fishing Village, home to traditional Chinese junks and the city’s world-famous floating restaurants. Enjoy a free afternoon before this evening’s cruise through Victoria Harbor, one of the most beautiful in the world. Meals B

Day 12 - Hong Kong at your leisure
